Singing Lessons

Leo Media can offer singing lessons in the Newbury Berkshire area. You can pay for each lesson on the spot, or buy a block of lessons up front to take full advantage of our discounts.

Lessons are currently taught in our modern recording studio just outside Newbury near Chieveley on a 1-to-1 basis, but students under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times.

We offer lessons that are flexible and meet the needs of each individual student, covering a range of genres including Jazz, Soul, Musical theatre, Pop, R&B and Gospel. We do not offer examinations at present.

We provide lyric sheets and practice materials, but we ask that you provide your own ring-binder folder and a USB memory stick so we can transfer MP3 files for you to use when practicing.

The list below details our prices:

  • 1 lesson (30 minutes) - £12.00
  • 1 lesson (45 minutes) - £18.00
  • 1 lesson (60 minutes) - £22.00
  • 10 lessons (30 minutes) - £100.00
  • 10 lessons (45 minutes) - £140.00
  • 10 lessons (60 minutes) - £160.00

We can also negotiate a termly lesson rate as well to give you even bigger discounts, which also makes it much more convenient and straight forward for you as you’d only be paying us 3 times a year.

Please also note that we usually like to see each new student for a free 15 minute session to assess your ability, to discuss any relevant background and experience, to chat about the kinds of music you’re interested in working on etc. If we feel that singing lessons would not be appropriate for you, we will tell you during this free session. We do not believe in taking your money under false pretences! Some people can sing even if they need a bit of work and some people will never be able to sing no matter how many expensive lessons they have, so we feel its only right to be honest with each new student up front.

We’ve spent some time going through the archives and selected some of our favourite bits for you. The audio isn’t too long, and we’ve only included a bit of each recording otherwise you’d be listening to this for some time.

Some of the recordings were done during actual teaching sessions so they’re a bit rough and ready, while others were done in our recording studio. Everyone you’ll hear though, are young people we’ve taught over the years, and you’ll probably be able to pick out the voice of our singing teacher Matt doing harmony here and there too.

Recognition must go to the students, passed and present of the Claire Goodwin Theatre Arts School in Winchester, to Katie Brewster who wrote the lyrics and melody line for Key To My Heart, and to Hanna Pickard who also features as a soloist in this recording.

Matt says “I hope you’ll enjoy listening to these clips as much as I enjoyed working with the wonderful singers who feature in them”.
