The first dance at my brother’s wedding…

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Hi everyone, sorry its been such a long time since I last posted, but its been a very busy and emotional few months.

I wanted to get my brother Ben and his wife Lisa something completely unique as their wedding present, but I just couldn’t think of anything that someone else wouldn’t have chosen before. In the end I decided to write them a song.

I let them hear it a couple of days before the wedding and was totally thrilled when they chose it as their first dance instead of Eva Casady’s Songbird.

I’ve posted a sample of the track below, and as soon as I get a copy of the wedding DVD I’ll upload some footage of the first dance too.

Enjoy…

All those singers…

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Well, I’ve been promising to do this for a while now, and here it is finally. I’ve spent some time going through my archive of recordings of my time as a singing teacher, and I’ve uploaded a collage of some of my fav. bits for you. It isn’t too long, and I’ve only included a bit of each recording otherwise you’d be listening to this for some time.

Some of the recordings were done during actual teaching sessions so they’re a bit rough and ready - full of my terrible live piano playing etc, while others were done in my recording studio. Everyone you’ll hear though, are young people I’ve taught over the years, and you’ll probably be able to pick my voice out doing harmoney here and there too.

Recognition must go to the students, passed and present of the Claire Goodwin Theatre Arts School in Winchester, to Katie Brewster who wrote the lyrics and melody line for Key To My Heart, and to Hanna Pickard who also features as a soloist in this recording.

I hope you’ll enjoy listening to these clips as much as I enjoyed working with the wonderful singers who feature in them.

Matt playing Nicholas Saunderson on the big screen!

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Well, perhaps not quite such a big screen, but here’s the short trailer for No Horizon that was filmed on location around Yorkshire and Cambridge. Personally I don’t think the guy playing young Nicholas looks anything like me lol! But here it is never the less!

You will need a player that supports Quicktime content to play this file. If you don’t already have a QT player, I like the Quicktime Alternative player because you don’t have to install the official one. You can get ithere.

So what’s happening now?

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

So, what’s happening now and where am I going next? Well, I’ve just completed the Out Of The Blue Remix which has now been released in the US so that’s all very exciting. Leo Media continues to produce custom backing tracks for dance schools, theatre companies and singers, and we’re also nagociating new contracts with various multi-media companies as well, specifically projects involving sound design and music for computer games.

For me personally though, I’m about to embark on two pretty huge projects which are very exciting. Firstly, I’m very excited to anounce that I have started work on my first Musical! I have had discussions with Lesley Pearse, the author of the novel which is the inspiration for the new work, and she is more than happy for me to go ahead with the project. Its always nice to have the blessing of the author. That’s all I can say about that for now, other than the novel is perfect for stage adaptation, and this wonderful story has something for everyone - love interest, danger, passion, great music!

The second project is something a bit different. I will shortly be starting work on an audio dramatisation of a series of Scifi novels. The first one will be a pilot, but if it meets with approval Leo Media should be up for doing all of the books in the series.

I’ve also got to get my ass in gear and write the song I’ve promised my Brother and future sister in law for their Wedding in August, as well as my Best Man speech! Eeeek! I’d better get watching Best Man speeches on Youtube!

That’s all for now folks, be good and have fun.
