The first dance at my brother’s wedding…

Friday, August 28th, 2009

Hi everyone, sorry its been such a long time since I last posted, but its been a very busy and emotional few months.

I wanted to get my brother Ben and his wife Lisa something completely unique as their wedding present, but I just couldn’t think of anything that someone else wouldn’t have chosen before. In the end I decided to write them a song.

I let them hear it a couple of days before the wedding and was totally thrilled when they chose it as their first dance instead of Eva Casady’s Songbird.

I’ve posted a sample of the track below, and as soon as I get a copy of the wedding DVD I’ll upload some footage of the first dance too.

Enjoy…

In Memorium…

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

On Saturday the 30th of May 2009, my Grandfather Cyril Yorke sadly passed away aged 75. His funeral will be held this coming Tuesday.

One of his favourite songs of all time was Ave Maria, and I was asked to sing it at the funeral. However, I didn’t think I’d be able to do that, so I agreed to record a version of it instead to be played during the service.

I have included a shortened version here, and hope that you will listen peacefully and enjoy this recording, keeping in mind the background behind it. thank you.

DJ Leo B wins new commission…

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Well guys, its official, I’ve been commissioned to write the overture for Cinderella on Broadway, a new panto going up in the first quarter of 2010! Its gonna be set in the 50s so that’s a new chalange for me, but hey, I like chalanges! I’m thinking Guys And Dolls, that kinda jazzy Big Band sound! Yea!

Oh for all you Americans out there, panto, short for pantomime, is a great British tradition. I’m not going to give it to ya on a plate though, go and look it up if you don’t know what its all about! See, this is a very interactive, mind-expanding blog!

My sister Harriette…

Matt meets up with Catherine for a little drinkie…

Friday, May 8th, 2009

So a while back I was in London for a meeting with Channel 4 TV and decided to pop down to see Catherine for a drink or several as she doesn’t live that far away, just over the boarder in Essex.

We discuss Wetherspoon’s pubs and how they always appear to be in interesting historical buildings.

Oh the joys of Satnav!!!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Well, some of you will undoubtedly hate Reality Blogging, others just can’t get enough of those mundane everyday events that make up the sitcom of life. I happen to think funny moments randomly captured on tape are priceless, even if they’re completely stupid! So whilst my blog won’t be totally overrun with my Big Brother wannabee Podcast clips, you will find some here and there.

This one features my bro and soon to be sister in law on our way to the Isle of Wight for my dad’s Birthday, and our experiences with dodgy Satnavs (the Nokia N82 V Apple IPhone GPS shootout), randoms who barge in to locked loos, giving the finger to drivers we overtake and all kinds of random stuff like that!

So what’s happening now?

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

So, what’s happening now and where am I going next? Well, I’ve just completed the Out Of The Blue Remix which has now been released in the US so that’s all very exciting. Leo Media continues to produce custom backing tracks for dance schools, theatre companies and singers, and we’re also nagociating new contracts with various multi-media companies as well, specifically projects involving sound design and music for computer games.

For me personally though, I’m about to embark on two pretty huge projects which are very exciting. Firstly, I’m very excited to anounce that I have started work on my first Musical! I have had discussions with Lesley Pearse, the author of the novel which is the inspiration for the new work, and she is more than happy for me to go ahead with the project. Its always nice to have the blessing of the author. That’s all I can say about that for now, other than the novel is perfect for stage adaptation, and this wonderful story has something for everyone - love interest, danger, passion, great music!

The second project is something a bit different. I will shortly be starting work on an audio dramatisation of a series of Scifi novels. The first one will be a pilot, but if it meets with approval Leo Media should be up for doing all of the books in the series.

I’ve also got to get my ass in gear and write the song I’ve promised my Brother and future sister in law for their Wedding in August, as well as my Best Man speech! Eeeek! I’d better get watching Best Man speeches on Youtube!

That’s all for now folks, be good and have fun.
